A family can be a blessing and a curse, depending on just how cuckoo your family members are, but I think in general it's safe to say that most of us have felt a certain degree of embarrassment for the behavior or actions of one or another part of their, however remotely related, natural peer-group. Still, there is nobody on the planet who is so closely connected, and able and willing, to assist you with your needs and troubles, and to share your good times and successes in life as your family, so give them a hug, kiss them on their forehead and tell them how much you appreciate them :)
